Hunter-Wolff Gallery is proud to host a special annual show by Colorado’s Pikes Peak Plein Air Painters. Join us on Friday, July 3 for The Best of Pikes Peak Plein Air Painters (PPPAP) show and sale. For the first time, the gallery is temporarily replacing its current resident artists’ work to display more than 100 paintings by the members of the PPPAP. For nearly a year, the members of this important organization have been preparing for an exhibit that promises to offer something for everyone.

Don’t miss the opportunity to learn the importance of plein air painting which first took hold in the late 1800’s by some of the world’s most famous French painters.  Like those who came before them, Colorado’s PPPAP members capture their fleeting impressions—all the feelings experienced while painting outdoors and often influenced by the seasons, weather conditions, time of day and other variables. It is essential to the plein air artist to seize the moment and the mood of the setting which is then communicated to the viewer through expressive brush strokes, subtle shading, tone and color using a variety of mediums. 

Demonstrations by the plein air painters are scheduled each weekend at Hunter-Wolff Gallery throughout July. They are eager to show you their work, technique, and discuss why they do what they do.  Visit Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 5 pm to learn more.
